Volunteer and Tourism Department
Kibbutz El-Shammah is registered with the South African Tourism Bureau. It is located on Route 62 (National Road) at Robertson Road. Foreigners from around the globe have visited Kibbutz El-Shammah to participate in the projects and to experience the flavor of the Cape Colored culture through:
- Cultural Expressions: Theatre company - South Roots performs cultural dances and songs.
- Guest House: An affordable guest house for volunteers and visitors.
- Coffee Shop: An affordable coffee shop for the community and for visitors to experience the cultural flavors.
- Alternative Tourism: Visits into the community to experience the environment and homemade cooking.
- Museum: The Roodewal Window tells the story of Roodewal: it's pain, survival, and healing. A visit to the museum includes a tour of the Kibbutz and the community.
- Future Vision: Develop these projects in order to create more job opportunities.

Volunteers from around the world get involved in the projects of Kibbutz El-Shammah. Specifically those linked to South Roots. Volunteers can impart their skills to the community and serve in basic areas of need in the organization.

Registration: R1000 (Aprox $140)
Accommodation plus one main meal a day - R450 per week (Aprox $60)
